Conshohocken Fire Suits Settled
A settlement has been reached in the fire that destroyed three buildings at a Conshohocken apartment complex in the summer of last year. The $36.2 million agreement, worked out through a Montgomery County Court mediator, ends all litigation stemming from the fire at the Riverwalk at Milennium Apartments. The company that insured a contractor whose employees started the fire with welding torches must pay both developer Brian O’Neill and about 200 displaced tenants. O’Neill’s $27 million share will pay for re-building the Riverwalk towers. Attorney Robert Mongeluzzi, who represented the victims in a class action lawsuit, says the mediator helped all defendants realize that the risk of going before a jury was far greater than reaching a fair and reasonable settlement.
