PA Polls Favor GOP
A new Franklin and Marshall College poll shows republicans with big leads for governor and U.S. Senator in Pennsylvania. Pollster Terry Madonna says the Democrats are lost at sea.
“The wind is in their face, and the big wave is coming out of D.C.”
He Says President Obama’s agenda is unpopular, and Governor Rendell can’t help his party very much.
“His job performance has dropped 20 points in four years, and only 30 percent of the voters think the state is moving in the right direction, a 15-year low.”
Doctor Madonna says the poll shows Republican Tom Corbett leading Democrat Dan Onorato 38-to-27 in the governor’s race and Republican Pat Toomey leading Democrat Joe Sestak 40-to-31 in the U.S. Senate race among likely voters. Another poll, conducted by Public Opinion Strategies, gives Republican Mike Fitzpatrick a seven-point lead over incumbent Democrat Patrick Murphy in the Eighth Congressional District, which is mostly in Bucks County. Fitzpatrick lost the seat to Murphy in 2006, and he says the poll shows the voters are ready for new leadership.
