Swedesford Rd Section Closes Monday
Swedesford Road between Routes 202 and 63, along the border between Upper and Lower Gwynedd Townships, will close permanently on Monday. PennDot’s Gene Blaum says site preparation has already started, and it will mean a short-term inconvenience for a few motorists, but a long-term benefit for many.
“You’re going to have that direct connection from Route 202, DeKalb Pike, to continue north onto the 202 Parkway with a modern, wide signalized intersection, at Route 63 and you’ll have that direct connection so traffic that will want to continue on the DeKalb Pike local route will also be able to do that.”
Blaum says a connector road between the existing Route 202 and the new 202 Parkway will use that site plus additional right of way. It will start near Route 202 and Hancock Road and join the parkway just north of Route 63. He says closing that short stretch of Swedesford Road will increase traffic and turning movements at the signalized intersection of Routes 202 and 63, and it will probably cause more backups.
