Lansdale Recovering From Snowstorm
Mayor Andy Szekely says the snowstorm recovery effort has been going well and people are cooperating. He says he knows of one instance where three cars were stuck on streets in the same neighborhood and everyone got together and dug them out. He says there were no reported incidents of people cursing plow drivers or throwing things at them, as happened elsewhere during the earlier weekend storm, and patience is clearly a virtue.
“We are all neighbors, so be patient. The snow’s going to eventually melt. It’s melting at a pretty good rate now, so it’ll be gone in a few days, so just remember it’s no use getting upset over it.”
He says the borough may be spending more than it budgeted, but it’s a necessary expenditure.
“From a public safety point of view, you really can’t skimp on snow removal.”
Montgomery Township Public Works Director Kevin Costello says all township roads have been plowed and treated, but drifting snow blew onto some of them Thursday, and road crews were back out Friday for the final cleanup phase. It includes clearing all of the snow from the roads to ensure proper drainage and allow mail delivery.
