No Expansion For Thorndale Development In Towamencin
The Towamencin Township Supervisors have turned down a request from WB Homes of Upper Gwynedd to expand a development that received preliminary approval several months ago.
The plans called for 126 carriage houses in the $450,000 price range on 43 acres along Allentown Road, near the North Penn Water Authority building. Chairman Dan Littley says the company proposed adding about 50 town homes.
“The town homes would be at a lower cost than the carriage houses, and we hadn’t seen a full plan. It was just an informal presentation at the end of December, and we asked them to go talk to the neighbors first.”
Littley says he and three other supervisors attended a recent meeting between the neighbors and the developer.
“We had the developer’s side, and we also had the neighbors’ side. The conclusion I reached was that there was no backing for it from the neighbors. They just didn’t want it.”
Littley says WB Homes can build what was approved, but the discussion about expanding the Thorndale development is over. He says he has no knowledge of what the company plans to do.
