Saturday night is a big night at the Griffin Complex. That's because the Gwynedd-Mercy women's basketball team host Baptist Bible for the Colonial States Athletic Conference Championship.
To get here, top seeded Gywnedd-Mercy had to survive a double-overtime thriller against Marywood. "As soon as the final horn sounded" said GM head coach Keith Mondillo when asked when he got a chance to exhale after the win. Now it is time for Mondillo and company to take another deep breath when they host second seeded Baptist Bible. The Defenders topped Immaculata for the right to play in this game. Both teams won their respective divisions and earned first round byes. GM features the senior back court combo of Bryn Cottetta (Norristown P.A. / Norristown) and Brittany Neil (Woodlyn, P.A. / Archmere Academy) Neill leads the team in scoring with 11.8 points per game while Cottetta averages 10.6. Cottetta is the team leader in assists, handing out 4.6 per contest. Both were selected first team all CSAC. They will have to contend with the CSAC Player of the Year in Kacee Rava who averages 17 points and 12 rebounds per game. It is the 14 appearance for GM in a championship game under Mondillo who goes for his sixth title in his 17 years as the Griffins head coach. This is Baptist Bible's first CSAC title game in school history. Gwynedd-Mercy beat Baptist Bible on February 8th, at Baptist Bible, 86-81. Radio coverage gets underway at 5:50pm with the pre-game show. Tip off is set for 6pm. You can also listen on the web at wnpv1440.com
