The Hatboro-Horsham School District and the Horsham Athletic Club have signed an agreement that will make professional training available to student athletes at no cost to them or the schools.

Souderton Area School District officials have scheduled a public hearing to gather input about the proposed closing of Lower Salford Elementary School.   It will be held in the high school auditorium at 6:30 in the evening on November 27th. District officials say enrollment is dropping and they no longer need sven elementary schools.   They also say there is enough unused or under utilized space in the existing facilities for an additional school.   Lower Salford was built about a century ago and is the oldest classroom building in the district.

A Methacton School Board committee Tuesday night recommended that the district continue to use herbicides at least for now to control weeds and encourage grass to grow on the fields at Arcola Intermediate School and the high school.   Some parents in the district are raisng the red flag about student athletes playing on treated fields because of concerns about the possible health effects of herbicide exposure.   District officials say the treatments they use are in compliance with all state and federal regulations.   They also say an organic approach that puts an emphasis on top soil management might be considered after pending athletic field improvements are put into place.
