School Shooting on the Mind of SASD President

The Souderton Area School Board met Thursday night for the first time since the tragedy at the elementary school in Connecticut.   District officials showed their respect for the shooting victims by flying the American flag at half mast outside the Administrative Office Building.   School Board President Bernie Currie says what happened at Sandy Hook Elementary School is still very much on the minds of district officials.   He says they have used the week since the tragedy to look at their own security arrangements.   Currie is also praising school building administrators and teachers for making things as normal as possible for students on their first day back in class after the shootings in Connecticut.
 

Supervisors Plan Vote On Methacton Field Lights

The Worcester Township Supervisors have scheduled a vote on plans to install lights at the Methacton High School athletic fields.

North Penn School Board Holds Reorganization Meeting

The North Penn School Board is staying the course.   During a reorganization meeting Monday night, its members reelected Board President Vince Sherpinsky and Vice President Tim Kerr.   They will both serve in leadership positions for the next year.   The vote for Sherpinsky was unanimous.   Kerr faced a challenge for the number two spot from Board Member Carolyn Murphy but retained his post by a 7 - 2 vote.   Sherpinsky is beginning his 16th year on the school board.   Kerr is starting his 12th year of community service.
 

SASD Holds Public Hearing on Proposed School Closing
