AMH Closing Radiology School

Abington Memorial Hospital is closing its radiology school after the last class graduates in August of 2014.

The school director says it’s closing because it’s losing about $250,000 dollars a year and enrollment keeps declining.

At one time it enrolled about 30 students per year, but the current class has only ten.  That’s partly because it only certifies x-ray technicians, and they still have to get a college degree to pursue careers in radiology.

Abington will continue offering clinical training through accredited radiology programs at area colleges.
