Pennridge Holds Sports Safety Presentation
Among the sports safety experts will be Cardiologist Dr. Todd Alderfer, co-host of WNPV's Beat Goes On program. He'll talk about the impact of the recently passed Sudden Cardiac Arrest Prevention Act.
"It's hard to talk about a sign of Sudden Cardiac Death because you die. That's your biggest sign, but the thing that people talk about recognizing are people that pass out, palpitations, lightheadedness, dizziness, feeling your heart race."
Dr. Alderfer says the act requires follow up when symptoms present themselves.
“If people complain of some of these symptoms or if some of these things occur and their athletic trainer finds out about them, the bill states that they then need to see a physician to have that evaluated before they can return to athletic activity.”
Dr. John Minnick will discuss concussion issues and other experts will also be on hand. The presentation begins at 6 at Pennridge High School.
