North Penn Engineering and Technology Instructor Curt Reichwein says the district has been a leader in the field as the first one in Pennsylvania to offer a full Technical Education program, with courses ranging from introductory to advanced. He says to a large extent they prepare students for jobs that don’t exist yet.

“Technology changes so rapidly things are popping up as they go through the system.  Now, our role in that is that we are producing students who want to go to school to become engineers, architects or work in a design-related field.  Think of this program as an AP (Advanced Placement) engineering course.  They can go through five college preparatory classes.”

Reichwein says students in the engineering program can earn college credits starting in the tenth grade, and all students leave with a better understanding of engineering and technology in their daily lives.  He appeared Thursday on the WNPV talk program Comment Please by Univest.
