Perk Valley Budget Raises Taxes
The Perkiomen Valley School Board has approved a budget that calls for $88 million in spending and a real estate tax hike of 3.11 percent in the new school year.
Business Administrator Jim Weaver blames Draconian cuts in public school funding under Governor Tom Corbett’s state budget, a $585,000 decline in local revenue, and the end of federal stimulus money. The tax hike means the average homeowner will pay $157 more.
