Little Progress In Wissahickon Teacher Talks

wnpv_schoolsNegotiators for the Wissahickon School Board and teachers’ union met for nine hours on Saturday, but they made little progress toward a contract agreement. The school district issued a statement saying there was little movement by the union.  The two sides are far apart on wages.  The union is asking for pay raises of about 4.5 percent per year over three years.  The school board is offering no raise in the first year, a little more than 2.5 percent in the second year and 3 percent in the third year.  The teachers are working under the terms of a contract that expired on June 30 of last year.
