Judge Upholds Tax Collector Pay Cuts

wnpv_schoolsA Commonwealth Court judge has ruled that the Pennridge and Central Bucks School Boards acted properly last year when they reduced the amount of money they pay elected tax collectors. In a written opinion, Judge Jim Flaherty said school boards have very broad discretion in setting tax collector compensation, and their actions were well thought out and not arbitrary or capricious.  He said the Pennridge and Central Bucks boards based their calculations on what it would cost them to collect taxes using modern, cost-effective technology not used by the elected tax collectors.
