Montco Official Offers Vets Discount Cards

Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds Nancy Becker says about 120 companies have signed onto her program to give veterans discounts at local businesses, and they’ve found it benefits them.

“It’s a great way to advertise your business.  We have the list on our website that gets 4,000 hits a week.  It costs you nothing except giving the veterans some small discount.”

Becker says it not only brings in veterans but also brings in other people who see that participating businesses are supporting veterans, and she would like to get about 500 involved.  She says vets are issued a special photo ID.

For more information contact the Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds office.  She appeared Wednesday on the WNPV talk program Legally Speaking.

Township Pulls Out Of CB PD Effort

New Britain Township has pulled out of an effort to form a Central Bucks Regional Police Department.

It was one of five municipalities working on the plan, but New Britain Township sent the other four a letter saying the cost of building a new police headquarters would be too much, even though a state report says it would save nearly $150,000 a year on operating costs.

Doylestown and New Britain Boroughs and Doylestown and Plumstead Townships are moving forward with merger discussions.  Chalfont Borough and Warwick Township took part in the talks for a while, but they pulled out earlier.
