Chalfont Borough Council has voted to oppose a rate hike from Aqua Pennsylvania, the private company that provides the borough’s water. It has proposed raising the rates by about 18 percent, or $6 a month for the average customer, effective Wednesday, January 18.  Council will file its objection with the state Public Utility Commission, which could delay the rate hike until August.
