Montco Prison Expansion Project Dedicated
Montgomery County officials have dedicated a major expansion on the county prison grounds in Eagleville.
It’s a dormitory-style building for more than 500 inmates on work-release or serving time for DUI and other non-violent offenses. The new building took a little more than a year to complete at a cost of $23.5 million. Increased fees for work-release and other things will raise about $300,000 per year to help pay the debt service. County Commissioners Chairman Jim Matthews says it’s one of many public safety investments the county has made in recent years.
