Cash Turnpike Tolls Going Up
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has approved new tolls that take effect on January 1 of 2012.
They will increase by ten percent for cash customers but stay the same for E-ZPass users. The most common cash toll for passenger vehicles will go from $1.10 to $1.25. Turnpike Chairman William Lieberman says collecting tolls electronically is not only safer and faster, but it also saves money. He says the cost of handling a cash toll is about four times as much as processing an E-ZPass payment.
