Meeting Procedure Changes at Lansdale Borough Hall
Lansdale officials are streamlining the way that they record the official actions of borough council. Going forward, summarized meeting minutes will now be kept instead of a verbatim record. Those wanting to know exactly what was said will still be able to access that through audio recordings. This change in a seemingly routine aspect of borough business generated some controversy. About half-a-dozen Lansdale residents told council to proceed carefully. Borough Manager Timi Kirchner addressed some of their concerns by saying that her staff is trustable and doesn't make things up especially as it relates to the permanent record of council actions. She also said the audio recordings would be kept indefinitely and the change will save the borough about $3,000 a year.
