Behr Confirmed As Montco Sheriff
The Pennsylvania Senate has confirmed retired Whitemarsh Police Chief Eileen Behr as Montgomery County Sheriff.
The vote was 30-to-20 in the Republican-controlled senate. The 54-year-old Behr succeeds the late Sheriff John Durante, who died of a heart attack while in office early last year. She is also running for election to the office, facing 58-year-old Robert Durante of Norristown in the Republican Primary Election next month. He is a retired deputy sheriff, and he is not related to John Durante. The winner of that contest faces 65-year-old Democrat William Holt in November. He is a retired Abington Police Department Detective Sergeant.
