Corbett Appoints Montco Sheriff
Governor Tom Corbett (pictured here) has nominated former Whitemarsh Police Chief Eileen Behr to serve as Montgomery County Sheriff.
Chief Deputy Alfred Ricci has been acting sheriff since former Sheriff John Durante died early last year. Behr’s appointment becomes effective after the state senate confirms it. She is running for a full four-year term as sheriff, with opposition in next month’s Republican primary election from Robert Durante of Norristown, who is not related to the late sheriff. Retired Abington police officer William Holt is unopposed on the Democratic ballot. Governor Corbett has also appointed Lansdale lawyer Joanna Cruz to the Delaware River Port Authority.
