Bond Issue Reduced From Rendell’s Request

dollarsThe Rendell Administration is getting less than two thirds of what it wanted in a bond issue for a number of construction projects. They include a new medium-security building at Graterford State Prison and a new Bucks County Parking Garage in Downtown Doylestown.  Part of the money would also pay for the Barnes Foundation Museum’s move from Lower Merion to Philadelphia.  State Treasurer Rob McCord said the billion dollars Rendell wanted would be irresponsible, but halting all of the projects would be unwise, so he agreed to sign off on $650 million.
