Rendell Signs Pension Reform

wnpv_politicsGovernor Ed Rendell has signed 22 bills into law, including one that reforms the pension system for public school teachers and state employees. It raises the retirement age from 62 to 65 for new hires, gives them the option of paying more into their plans or getting reduced benefits, and spreads payments into the plans over more years.  It also creates an independent fiscal office to make nonpartisan budget projections.
