New Hanover Budget Calls For Police Layoff

wnpv_politicsThe New Hanover Township Supervisors in Upper Montgomery County are balancing next year’s budget by laying off the newest police officer on their nine-member force. The department has also been without a chief since Mike Dykie retired at the end of April after 32 years.  Adding to the uncertainty is an ongoing study by a state agency on the feasibility of merging the New Hanover Police with the department in neighboring Douglass Township.  The results of the study should be released in a few months.
