More Stop Bars Coming Soon To Lansdale

wnpv_politicsStop bars are two-foot-wide white paint stripes, indicating where motorists should come to a complete stop for signals or stop signs. They are already in place at most signalized intersections, but Borough Traffic Consultant Earl Armitage says many corners don’t have them, and they will be added where they see a history of people running stop signs.

“The borough is very large, and they have a lot of intersections that don’t have paint, simply because of the fact that they are very residential in nature and it’s not required, so we want to look at the problem intersections and see if this will help.”

New stop bars should be in place at Third and Chestnut Streets on a trial basis by the end of this month.  If they get more motorists to stop at the stop signs there, they will be painted at other intersections.
