EPA Releases Ambler Asbestos Test Results
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has released the results of asbestos sampling conducted over the summer at two former Keasbey and Mattison sites on South Chestnut Street in Ambler.
The company and its successor manufactured and processed asbestos on the sites for decades. EPA On-Scene Coordinator Jack Kelly says they found quite a bit inside two buildings and a tunnel connecting them, but other material that looked like it might be asbestos tested negative. He says they found lower levels on other parts of the site, and it got into the air when people were walking around, but the level in the air was very low if there was no activity on the property, and testing around the perimeter also turned up very low levels.
