Montgomery County Republican Party chairman Bob Kerns believes the county will have adequate political sway to make the 13th district congressional seat more suburban in next year's redistricting process. Kerns told inforadio that he would like to see the district pulled out of Philadelphia and into Montgomery County.  Currently it is split between the county and the city.  Since it was redistricted 10 years ago the seat has been Democratic and held by Joe Hoeffel and Allyson Schwartz.  Ironically the Republicans controlled the redistricting in 2001, as they will next year.
