An Upper Gwynedd man who admitted setting a neighbor’s home on fire to cover up a burglary has been given more than three years in state prison, followed by 20 years on probation.

44-year-old Jeffrey Streamer of Browning Court in Upper Gwynedd pleaded guilty to arson and other offenses in a 4th of July fire last year that heavily damaged the home of Guy Malik, on Anders Road near Valley Forge Road in Towamencin Township.

Police say he stole cash and jewelry to feed his drug habit, and then poured gasoline inside the home and ignited it.  No one was home at the time, and no one was injured.

He also admitted setting another fire at a Cheltenham School the day after the Towamencin fire.  In that case at the Wyncote Academy an employee heard the alarm, grabbed a fire extinguisher and put the fire out.
