The two people struck and killed Monday on the Route 309 Fort Washington Expressway were a mother and son from Philadelphia. Pennsylvania State Police say 54-year-old Esther Lewis and 21-year-old Richard Guerrier were killed after their Lincoln Town Car broke down near the Camp Hill Road overpass in Whitemarsh Township and a Lexus Sport-Utility Vehicle ran into them.

Montgomery County Coroner Walter Hofman says an earlier report that they were pushing their disabled car off the roadway was incorrect.  In fact Guerrier was in front looking under the hood and his mother was standing behind the car.  He says getting out of a car on a highway is not a good idea.
