Former Bucks Co Official Gets House Arrest
Long-time Bucks County Register of Wills Barbara Reilly has been given six months on house arrest, followed by one year on probation, for illegally paying employees “under the table” with comp time in return for their work at the polls on Election Day. In effect they were using taxpayer dollars to do political work. The 76-year-old Reilly, of Bensalem, also admitted tampering with records by having her staff shred hundreds of pages of documents including payroll records. Senior Judge John Braxton said he wanted to send her to prison, but he had to consider her age and poor health.
