Hospitals Report X-Ray Film Thefts

Three Southeastern Pennsylvania hospitals have reported thefts of used X-Ray materials, including one in Bucks County and one in Montgomery County. Grand View in West Rockhill has surveillance camera pictures of two men who stole used X-Ray film, and officials at Lankenau in Lower Merion say they believe the thieves posed as employees of a recycling company that handles X-Ray waste.  The used film contains silver that can be removed and recycled.  Silver trades for about $30 per ounce.  Both hospitals say the pictures did not contain names, Social Security numbers or other patient information.
