Teen Charged In Girl’s Murder
A Norristown teenager is accused of killing a 16-year-old girl last month near her home. 18-year-old Brandon Pierce (pictured here) of Arch Street is charged with first and third degree murder in the death of Dominique Devlin. She was shot several times on July 20, just after midnight, near Green and East Basin Streets. She was pronounced dead a short time later at Montgomery Hospital. A witness saw her with a man shortly before the shooting, and she was struggling to fight him off. Police recovered evidence after the shooting including a Villanova baseball cap, a t-shirt, a pair of pants and a Mauser semi-automatic handgun. DNA tests on samples taken from the cap, shirt, pants and gun grips matched Pierce’s DNA. Witnesses saw him shortly before the shooting wearing a Villanova baseball cap, and his fingerprints were found on a car near the crime scene. Authorities say Pierce was Devlin's former boyfriend, and he allegedly killed her because he thought she had set him up for a home-invasion robbery about two weeks before the murder. A few days after the murder family and friends gathered at the Norristown Police Athletic League Center to remember the victim. Her mother, Kimberly Spearman, said at the time that the street violence has to stop, and she urged the whole community to work together.
