A Willow Grove woman who admitted fraudulently raising more than $20,000 by claiming she needed it for breast and ovarian cancer treatment has been given 11 1/2 to 23 months in Montgomery County Prison.
She did not have the disease. 27-year-old Alicia Tolton pleaded guilty earlier this year to theft and forgery charges. Court documents say she routinely shaved her head to look like she was having chemotherapy, and she forged receipts from the Fox Chase Cancer Center for nonexistent treatments. She used the money to pay personal bills and feed a drug habit. The scam fell apart last October when a family member called police. Most of the money has since been returned to donors, but she must still pay $190 restitution.
