Police Kill Suspect In Multiple Montco Shootings
The man who shot five people over the weekend in Montgomery County, killing two and critically wounding three, was shot and killed late Monday morning. Delaware County District Attorney Mike Green and Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman say 51-year-old Mark Geisenheyner, of no known address, died inside a home in Trainer in Delaware County. They say he contacted an acquaintance there on Sunday, told him what he did and asked to hide out. The acquaintance left the house and called police when Geisenheyner went to sleep. He died of police gunfire. He was the sole suspect in the Saturday night shootings in a rural area of Douglass Township, near Renninger and Hoffmansville Roads north of Gilbertsville. The dead were 43-year-old Joseph Shay, who lived in New York and Massachusetts, and two-year-old Gregory Erdmann, who lived with his 37-year-old mother, Kathryn Erdmann, in Massachusetts. She was hospitalized in critical condition along with the owners of the home, 64-year-old Paul Shay and his 58-year-old wife Monica. During negotiations before his death, Geisenheyner told police he had planned for 15 months to rob and kill Paul Shay, and the two men knew each other, possibly from an insurance fraud scam.
