Man Surrenders After Standoff
Franconia Township Police took a man into custody early Monday after a standoff that lasted for nearly four hours. They received a call shortly after midnight on July 4 from a third party, who told them a man wanted for parole and weapons violations was in a home near Heatherfield Drive and Thornton Court. They were told that he had access to weapons in the home. They also learned that a 22-year-old woman, her two-year-old child and an elderly woman were in the home and in fear of the man. After numerous unanswered phone calls, the North Penn Tactical Response Team was activated at the scene. Its members safely removed the child and the older woman from the home, and the man and the 22-year-old woman surrendered peacefully in the basement at about 4:00am Monday. Franconia Police identified the man as a frequent visitor to the home, 31-year-old Lloyd Davis of no known address. He was taken to the Lansdale Police lockup and held for state parole authorities. The younger woman was released without charges.
