A Former Bucks County police officer found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman after a night of drinking has been given 1 ½ to 3 years in state prison.
42-year-old Michael Marren of Huntingdon Valley was convicted of aggravated indecent assault late last year. An expert witness told jurors DNA from his saliva was found on the 23-year-old victim’s breasts. Marren had been a sergeant in charge of the Special Victims Unit in the Bensalem Police Department until his dismissal shortly after the incident. The unit investigates sex crimes, and now he must register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law for the rest of his life. Court documents say Marren joined other members of the Bensalem Rescue Squad at a local bar in early March of 2010 to mourn the death of Paramedic Daniel McIntosh. After the bar closed, Marren drove the victim to the rescue squad headquarters on Byberry Road, where the assault occurred in a women’s restroom.
