Manilla Goes To Court Next Week

Bucks_County_CourthouseA Montgomery County lawyer accused of killing a Bucks County deer hunter is heading to court next week. 49-year-old David Manilla of Worcester goes before a judge on Tuesday to face involuntary manslaughter and weapons charges.  That’s a week earlier than his scheduled trial date, suggesting that he might be planning to plead guilty.  Court documents say Manilla admitted firing a high-powered rifle, shooting and killing 52-year-old Barry Groh of Quakertown as the victim dragged a deer along the Tohickon Creek in Richland Township on opening day of the firearms deer season last November.  Hunting with a high-powered rifle is illegal in Bucks County because of the population density.  Manilla also faces a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the Groh family.
