New Britain Moving Forward On Police Merger

wnpv_police_beatNew Britain Borough Council has voted to move forward with plans for a regional police department. A state study says four Central Bucks municipalities could save more than $375,000 in the first year by merging their police departments.  They are Doylestown and New Britain Boroughs and Doylestown and Warwick Townships.  The study says they would save money by reducing the staff a little bit and making investigations more efficient.  Chief James Donnelly, who runs the New Britain and Doylestown Borough Police Departments, told council members they could price themselves out of policing if they do not cut costs through a merger.
