“Jihad Jane” Pleads Guilty

wnpv_police_beatA former Montgomery County woman has admitted her role in a terrorist plot. 47-year-old Colleen LaRose pleaded guilty to conspiracy to support terrorists, conspiracy to commit murder in a foreign country and other offenses Tuesday in federal court in Philadelphia.  Prosecutors say she communicated online with Islamic extremists using the name “Jihad Jane,” conspiring with them on a plot to start a holy war in Europe by finding and killing Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks.  He was targeted because one of his drawings depicted the prophet Muhammad as a dog.  In e-mails recovered by the FBI, she agreed to become a martyr.  She lived with boyfriend Kurt Gorman and his elderly father in a second-floor duplex on Main Street in Pennsburg until August of 2009, when federal prosecutors say she flew to Europe to live and train with Jihadists.  Gorman said he saw nothing wrong with their five-year relationship until she disappeared five days after his father’s funeral.
