Montco Man Gets Jail Time For Stabbing

prison_1A Franconia man has been given 11 1/2 to 23 months in Montgomery County Prison for stabbing and wounding another man during an argument last summer. 21-year-old Derick Matthews of Heatherfield Drive pleaded guilty to aggravated assault for stabbing 20-year-old Matthew Cassell in the chest with a small knife at Cassel’s home, where Matthews and his girlfriend showed up uninvited at about 1:30am on August 8.  Court documents say Matthews became angry because he could not find his Suboxin, a medication used during withdrawal from heroin addiction.  He can have early parole after six months if he reports directly to an inpatient drug treatment program.
