A Norristown man is accused of taking a gun from a woman in a robbery, and then using it five days later to kill a man.
26-year-old Bruce Woods, whose last known address was on Wayne Avenue In Norristown, is charged with first, second and third degree murder, robbery and other offenses. Authorities say he shot 34-year-old Tyree Whiting in October on Swede Street in Norristown. Police arrested him at the time on a probation warrant for walking away from a Philadelphia halfway house in July. He was charged with murder this week after detectives intercepted his calls on a wiretapped cell phone they had planted among Montgomery County Prison inmates. In the recorded conversations, Woods allegedly admitted robbing and chasing the victim, shooting at him, and then standing over him and shooting him repeatedly to make sure he was dead.
