Man Jailed For Drunken Behavior On Highway

beerA man is accused of standing at a busy Towamencin Township intersection challenging vehicles to hit him, and then attacking police who tried to arrest him. The alleged incident happened at about 2:00am Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25, at Allentown and Forty Foot Roads.  27-year-old Anthony Desiderio Junior of Jonathan Drive in Montgomery Township is charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, public drunkenness and other offenses.  Police say the man, who is about 6 feet, 8 inches tall and 275 pounds, shouted profanities and failed to obey commands from the first officer on the scene.  Two other officers arrived, he grabbed at them and struggled with them, and they had to use a Taser and considerable effort to subdue and handcuff Desiderio.  He and an officer were both released from Abington Health-Lansdale Hospital after treatment for unspecified injuries, and he was taken to Montgomery County Prison in lieu of $25,000 cash bail.
