Rittenhouse Club Builder Facing Criminal Charges

fazioThe man who built a Norristown condo and apartment building that was condemned earlier this year faces multiple criminal charges. The Rittenhouse Club on Sandy Street was condemned in May, when a Montgomery County judge found the four-story building structurally unsound just three years after it opened.  Some former residents are facing possible financial ruin.  46-year-old developer Bruce Fazio of Collegeville is charged with theft, fraud, risking a catastrophe and other offenses.  Court documents say he took part in every phase of construction and knew about numerous defects, including exposed electrical wires, fire escape stairwells made of wood instead of steel, and a sprinkler system that didn’t work, yet he lied about the problems and tried to cover them up by discouraging residents from reporting them to code enforcement officials.
