A Former Montgomery County Public Safety Training Director is going to jail for stealing training funds.
At his sentencing Wednesday a judge gave 55-year-old Robert Linsinbigler ten to 23 months in county prison, followed by seven years probation. He said he took the money, totaling nearly $170,000, to pay bills and support his alcohol habit. He told the court he started doing stupid things when he was drinking heavily. He must give up his county pension, valued at about $100,000, and sell his East Norriton home, to pay restitution. He ran the Public Safety Training Academy in Plymouth Township from 1986 until the county commissioners fired him early last year, and he pleaded guilty to theft and forgery earlier this year in county court. Prosecutors say he wrote checks for his home mortgage and other personal expenses on two accounts, one belonging to the Fire Advisory Board and one belonging to the County Police Chiefs Association. The thefts occurred over an eight-year period, which ended when auditors found money missing.
