Pill Mill Doc Busted
Three Bucks County residents are accused of running a “pill mill,” selling diet pills without a prescription.
They are 56-year-old physician and alleged ringleader Christopher Vassalluzzo of New Hope and Robert and Rita Claypole of Southampton, both aged in their seventies. A federal indictment also names two Northeast Philadelphia residents, Janice Fares and Kathleen Gorden. Doctor Vassalluzzo is charged with selling prescription drugs outside a professional practice and mail fraud. The indictment says his operation went on for about a decade out of a Northeast Philadelphia office. If convicted he could face several years in federal prison, a multi-million-dollar fine and supervised release for the rest of his life.
