Man Charged In Teen’s Death Pleads Not Guilty
An Ambler man accused of striking and killing a Wissahickon Middle School student while high on drugs has pleaded not guilty and waived his formal arraignment. 25-year-old Andrew Meyers of North Main Street is charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence and other offenses in the death of 13-year-old Natan Luehrmann-Cowen. The incident happened on March 17 while the boy was riding his skateboard at Bright’s Lane and Cindy Circle in Lower Gwynedd, near his home and about a block from the Wissahickon High School campus. Blood tests showed that Meyers had ingested methadone and two other drugs that he admitted buying on the streets. Crash reconstruction experts found that he was driving about 63 miles per hour on a 25-mile-per-hour residential street when he struck and killed the boy.
