The Bucks County Commissioners have approved spending more than $1 million to buy the development rights for a farm, and the state is matching the county contribution.

It’s the Donald Metzger Farm off Route 212 in Springfield Township, and it covers about 255 acres.

The conservation easement means the land must stay in farming forever.  About 80 percent of the acreage is used for growing corn and soybeans and raising horses.  It’s the 153rd farm the county has preserved.
