Bucks Co Agency Names Conservation Farmer Of Year
The 30-year-old Harris lives with his wife Brenda on their 70-acre dairy farm near Perkasie.
He was honored for creating animal trails, installing new fencing and developing a new manure storage system to protect a stream and pond on the property. In addition to milking about a hundred cows twice a day, he grows corn and hay. He says they’re cash crops, but about 75 percent of what he grows stays on the farm to feed the cows.
He says farmers work seven days a week, 365 days a year, but he loves it.
