Therapist Warns Families About Signs of Drug Abuse
Dana Cohen is a Family Therapist with Livengrin, a drug and alcohol treatment center in Bensalem. Cohen says, there are some signs that a loved one or friend could be ready to use drugs or alcohol again after a long stretch of sobriety.
“What families could notice or even look for is any change in the recovery program. Some signs would be if the person is going to their meetings regularly, talking to a sponsor, doing what they’re supposed to, and then they stop.”
Cohen adds, it’s best to talk with someone first because immediate harsh criticisms can often make the situation worse. It’s still not known what caused Garrett Reid’s death, and a toxicology report has not yet been released. Garrett Reid suffered from substance abuse. He was 29.
