Manna Doing Well In New Building
She says the mission is feeding the hungry, and one of the core programs is a soup kitchen which probably should have another name.
“They serve much more than soup including wonderful gourmet foods that are highly nutritious so all of us, the staff as well as the people who come to eat, are learning to appreciate new ways of eating vegetables and eating well.”
She says they have a limited budget, so volunteers do most of the work. Volunteer Coordinator Anthony Tarvia says they are very committed and they help recruit others.
“Some people refer friends and family, and it’s really wonderful to have so many members, whether they’re coming from churches or other organizations or from schools, or just individuals helping out and lending a hand and doing what they can for the people in their community.”
He says they need about 100 volunteers a week, and they do get them, but they can always use more. He appeared Wednesday on the WNPV talk program Legally Speaking.
